I get this dns error message repeatedly.Not all the time, but often.
The mirra unit was getting it's dns from dhcp. I changed it to use my isp dns and google public dns (126.96.36.199)
But it still seems to not stay connected.
Right this moment it says connected ok but it's been off and on for a few days, since I installed it.
I am sure the connection is fine, I have no problems with my dsl line.
Any troubleshooting steps you can recommend?

Well, it's getting obvious that the problem is more than likely the server at www.mirra.com is having some trouble and needs maintenance.
Is that thing just being ignored by the seagate personnel as a dead product they wish would just go away? I have two of them, I am not planning on going away.
Someone needs to take ownership of this issue and go fix that server. It's just not too much to ask.

I thought they had fixed it but today I have the same error in the mirra service.
The website says
"Either there is a network problem or the
Mirra Personal Server backing up this folder
is turned off.
Attempting a connection for one minute anyway."
It chugged for a while, i cancelled and tried again and it connected, now the mirra service says "Connected OK"

I just talked to a support tech, he said for the mirra web service to work UPnP has to be enabled on the router. I have a netopia 3347 and I was able to enable UPnP.
It hasn't changed anything yet, but maybe i need to reboot the Mirra to get it to tell the router what it needs.
Otherwise the tech says forward ports 4301-4302 to the mirra unit.
I haven't tried that yet.
