For the Maxtor Central Axis 1TB NAS, I cannot seem to share any of the folders associated with the local user accounts.  The username/password authentication fails in the Maxtor Manager software screen where you enable sharing and web access.  In every other way the folders work properly; they can be accessed by computers on my LAN, but nothing via the Global Access web account.  Any suggestions or theories why the username/password is not accepted?  Thanks

For the username/password authentication, did you enter the username and password for your local user account and not your Global Access account?  It should work, otherwise you wouldn't be able to connect to your Central Axis with that account.

Yes, I used the local user account.  I even created another local user account, mounted it successfully, and then tried to share it.  Same results.  Authentication failed.  I attempted to share local accounts using the Maxtor Manager software from two differennt computers.  Same problem.  Thanks.

Problem resolved.  Although the Maxtor client calls shared folders "user" accounts, they are not. 

When I created a separate user account on the Central Axis server, I was able to use that account to login and activate activate web-sharing.
