Hi Claynz,
as you suggested I updated the the drivers for the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers with the last release:
Intel Rapid Storage Technology 10.1.0.1008 and the problem seems to be resolved!
The random beep is disapeared!!! :-) ...I hope it does not recur more, thanks alot,
Slancio

After updating the firmware and the IDE ATA/ATAPI drivers the "beep" is very reduced in frequency (1 or 2 per day) but still alive!!!
Maybe, one day, it will die in peace...

Okay SEAGATE - DO SOMETHING!
Your Product isn't working correctly! It never has!
Working on a Macbook Pro late 2008 Snow Leopard 64-bit and it keeps "freezing" randomly.
Opening my Browser - spinning beachball -....10-20 sec.... ok everything works for about...oh hold on..spinning beachball...yey! very entertaining...
okay macbook pro works for about an hour...starting Itunes - hold on, guess what? -> spinning beachball again - HDD activity 100%.....constant lag for about 30 sec?
Upgraded to SD24 -> even more LAG!
What the heck are you doin?
I tried different HDDs - no problem with hdds from other manufacturers (but no hybrid), also switched the Momentus XT because i thought mine is broken - but still the same issues..
We need a SD25 as soon as possible, and if these lags still appear, i think i have to bring the momentus xt back and buy another HDD (any suggestions? 500gb and very quick!)

I think the problem is incompatibility with some hardware. There are computers which works flawlessly with MomentusXT, and some which have problems. Mac users mainly complains about frequent freezes; I (Sony VAIO user) experienced infrequent freezes, but with Blue Screens. On the other hand my Lenovo Ideapad Y550 works OK with MomentusXT.
Seagate must diagnose what causes the incompatibility and provide us with new firmware (preferably soon).
PS. Last week I received new MomentusXT from Seagate and I am going to test it. Up until now - now blue screens and no slow downs. Although with previous disk I also has some "honeymoon period".

I agree with you Osmin. I'm with Lenovo too. But ThinkPad x100e. XT HDD works great. I think that most problems with XT are with incompatibility with Win 7 OS. Most of users are with Win 7 64.

I doubt that. I see more people in here with Macs than anything else. Macs are a tiny percentage of the overall computer population, but not here.

I don't think Win7-64 is a problem. On my Ideapad I have the same Win7 Home Premium, as on Sony VAIO.

My 2 Momentus XT's don't work... same problem as all the others Macbook users in here...
How does one start the RMA process in Denmark? I see no option for that on the website... (I can't go to my reseller as they just went bankrupt (www.getmore.dk)...
Please Advice

Hi,
I am going to update to SD24 on a macbook pro. I am also running Windows 7 as a virtual machine with Parallels 5. I am hesitating between updating with the bootable CD for Mac or using the update program through windows. It seems easier to do the update in a Windows environnement than on a Mac. Has anyone tried to update the firmware that way?
Thank you

Hello everyone,
I recently purchased an Asus laptop with 2 500GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive - Seagate XT NCQ Hybrid w/4GB SSD firmware version SD22, running Windows 7 and have tried to update the firmware via the windows installer. Both times I received an error stating the hardware was correct but the firmware version was not. Should I try to use the ISO image to work around this problem?
I ask because I purchased this as a gaming laptop and am having some 1-3 second delays playing certain games and would very much like to resolve this matter. If you have any ideas or information I would appreciate all advice.
Thanks
