Formatting on momentus xt 750gb

When I format my momentus xt 750gb will it also format the 8gb ssd? How do I clear that space manually? If it automatically does it on format then thats fine.

Re: Formatting on momentus xt 750gb

I have been bugging Seagate to release a set of tools to clear the flash cache for quite some time.

Re: Formatting on momentus xt 750gb

Hello,

If the zero fill is used through Seatools for DOS, the SSD portion of the Momentus XT drive, is also erased. Here is a link to the Seatools for DOS manual just in case anyone needs the steps to perform the zero fill option.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you

Re: Formatting on momentus xt 750gb

Examine your BIOS setup. If the SATA controller is configured for RAID or AHCI mode, temporarily change this to IDE or legacy mode.

This will make the SATA controller look like PATA.

Will this slow down my performance on games?

Re: Formatting on momentus xt 750gb

To answer your question, I believe the interface speed would be reduced to UDMA 133, which would result in a performance hit. Whether this would noticeably impact on your gaming experience, I don't know.

That said, I'm not suggesting that you make this change permanent. My recommendation is to reconfigure the BIOS, run SeaTools for DOS, and then restore the original settings.
