OK guys.
I believe that the lags/stuttering issues (maybe also connected to the End-to-End errors in SMART, not entirely sure about this) are directly caused by the SD25 firmware. It seems that the problems occur ONLY on drives which, at a given point had the SD25 firmware (even if, afterward one updated further to SD28, for example).
SD25 messes up drives really badly. We've already shown that it corrupts files under all operating systems. But I strongly believe that it also messes with the SSD and/or with some very important cache-controlling firmware components.
I can tell you that I have never seen the lags/stutterings/freezes on the following 2 drives:
1. originally SD23, updated to SD24, then to SD28 directly. Perfect drive. No corruption
The second drive:
2. originally SD22, never updated to anything else. It works very well, no problems. No file corruption.
It seems that the file corruption was introduced in SD24 (I'm not entirely sure about this). Can anyone confirm ? However, SD25 clearly shows serious problems with corruption.
I've seen the lags/freezes only on drives which, at a given moment in time, had SD25 on it (especially for a longer amount of time). Those drives sometimes showed the End-to-End errors in SMART.

How do we fix this issue? I've had this hard drive for about 1.5 years and it started out fine, I am pretty sure (unless I did not hear the beeping). But ever since about 6-7 months ago it started to do this beep maybe once to two times a day.
But now, it is beeping sometimes every hour or 2 and when playing video games like diablo 3, it will lag the entire game for 1 second, then I die. This one second lag happens exactly when the beep noise comes.
Somewhere along the line, i did upgrade to the SD25 firmware most likely (but its so long ago i cant remember).
Will re-installing the OS fix this issue 100%? And is this all I have to do?
I am using the SD28 firmware. Same noise and lag in my phenom II x4 setup and my 2600k sandybridge setup.
Thank you.

To BoxeoP4P,
I'm almost sure you have End-to-End errors and during the last few months I've encountered several 500 GB MXT drives with this problem. I believe that their SSD component is malfunctioning, hence the lags/stutterings. The SSD part can't read the cached data.
It may be because high temperature (these drives are well known to run hotter than WD Scorpio Blacks) damaged the SSD part.
I don't think they are trusty anymore....

So I was having this issue on my old laptop with firmware 23 and when I bought my new laptop i flashed directly to 28 without an issue and did a fresh format/install of Windows 7
SAME EXACT issue as I was having with my old laptop - NEVER suspected the HDD since it passed every diag I threw at it...
I have the rest of tonight off and tomorrow off for fourth of july and literally JUST bought Diablo 3 which is deamed unplayable
is there anyway I can install the 26 firmware so I can play Diablo 3? LOL
How do you "force flash"???

I have same lag issue from today on my asus g73jh with st95005620as. But i think this is'n caused by sd25 coz i updated firmware from sd22 to sd28.
I didnt read entire thread but from that what i saw there is no solution so i'll try probably downgrade to sd23 or older if i'll find it.
If somebody have some advice you are welcome ![]()
PS: There is no changelogs or info about firmware updates. Why? that sux ocz i dont know what is wrong with older firmwares...
