Re: Momentus XT 500gb - DEM1 firmware

It has a firmware from Dell.On Dell forums their rep man replied if "you flash SD firmware from Seagate on DEM1 HDD and it will result in bricked drive, Dell won't warranty this."

I bought a momentus XT in my computer shack, to replace shrilling, chirking st9500420as, and all XT they had had DEM1 firmware. Sugestion from my side that it should have SDxx firmware, girl in the shack said they only have it with this new DEM1 firmware. Yeah right. Now I know it is a OEM DELL firmware. I wonder if I should return the drive, because girl said it has Seagate warranty. Heck it does.

I wonder for how long it will last.
