I am running the Momentus XT in a 15" MBP with Lion. I had not previously had the "chirp" until I upgraded to sd28.
Anyone have any suggestions on potential solutions?

Please give us a complete firmware history + is it an OEM drive (did you ever use force flashing ?) + details on drivers + chipset type + OS version.

I hate to steal this thread, but I have the same exact issue:
Upgrated from SD23 to SD28 (only upgraded this once in the year-long life of the drive). Good (perceived) performance boost, but now I hear intermittent chirping. Everything seems fine otherwise, but contacting support via email stated that this might signify the drive is failing.
Running a MacBook Pro with Lion. It will boot SeaTools for DOS, but I cannot use it (no keyboard/mouse responsiveness). Apple's Disk Utility states that SMART is Verified.
Will there be another firmware update to address this? I've seen other claims that their chirping was actually resolved by this update.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Please provide a full SMART report. And check to have the latest AHCI SATA drivers installed (such as Intel RST).
AFAIK, the drive chirps when it parks/unparks the heads. It is more like a squeak/beep noise.
I bet you hear it only after the drive is idle for some time (more than 25 seconds).
Can you give us more details: how and when do you hear the chirps ?

Add me to this list. Momentus XT (500gb) owner for a year. I just upgraded firmware (for the first time) from SD23 to SD28 via ISO disk (running Lion 10.7.2). Now I get chirping on my MacBook Pro. Incidentally, upgrading my Mac Mini's Momentus XT drive resulted in losing CPU temp monitoring and video output through a DVI converter. Definitely unhappy that I upgraded my firmware in 2 drives!

Add me to this list too. Momentus XT (500gb) owner for a month. I just upgraded firmware (for the first time) from SD23 to SD28 via MomentusXT-ALL-SD28.exe. Now I get chirping on my notebook Dell xps. Incidentally, upgrading my Dell, Momentus XT drive resulted in
1.hange up playing video. When I play video from sd card or usb drive working propely.
2.Few time (2~3) blue screan and system crash.
3. Battery life half compering before (samsung 160 GB)
Definitely unhappy that I upgraded my firmware!
Is any possiblieties go back to previous firmware or count for new one working propely?

Have your drive checked / scanned for a boot sector virus.
OR what they call a root kit.

Bios
Why I should do this? Firs what I did with this drive I installed system and virus protection. The seller is asking about my computer and BIOS option. In my bios I can make "enable" or “disable” SATA option. ATA or AHCI (something like that) and flash module. To put ATA system require first to turn off flash module then when I try it (I didn’t do it)bios warnings appear “if I will put ATA mode I can lost date and reinstall the system” What mode this option in bios should be for Momentus xt?

I think you are over your head.
What OS are you using?
Why in the world did you change the firmware if it was working fine before?
