Momentus XT, Momentus, Momentus Thin, MobileMax, and other notebook drives

That Used 320MGb Momentus XT drive I got from the neighbor months ago sure has seen some duty!!!!

After I got it and updated firmware... It first saw use in a USBV2 buss powered enclosure, doing sneakernet file transfers....

Then I put it in a USB3/2 enclosure, and was an external drive for Wife at work.....

Now it resides in a server, being used as what started out as a temporary repair... A 3.5" drive used as a Cache Database in Hot Swap Chassis died... and I had a 2.5" drive sled available.... So in it went!!!

It's actually working  out better than the  drive it replaced.... But that is no suprise!!!!

Now I'm on the prowl for another Momentus XT......

In Probably one of the BEST Horse Trading deals I've ever made.....  I impressed some folks with the use of the XT as Cache drive, and they simply must have it..... NOW!!!  Their system is simelar to mine, with 3Gb SATA II.

So I'm moving XT drives around yet again....taking a  Momentus XT drive (500Gb) as a CACHE drive, to be used concurrently with the 320Gb  drive that will be re-purposed (yet again) as a CACHE DATABASE drive....  The Cache needing to be bigger storage than the Database does.    Both of these drives only job is those files and will be taking advantage of the Read SSD caches the XT has.... to speed up a Video Editing system.....   This should provide even faster operation than the one I used at home for the "Demo"

And the best part of the Horse Trade........  The folks are replacing the 320 and 500 with 750's for me to use!!!
