Strange problem after firmware update.

I was having some problems with my momentus xt sd23 so I upgraded the firmware to sd25. The drive is fine for a while but then windows and the bios loses the drive until I shutdown my computer completely and   power it back on. This happens randomly now the previous oroblems are gone but  this new problem is really annoying.

Re: Strange problem after firmware update.

I experience the same problem, I am guessing you have your xt as a secondary drive as well?  Do you also get the chirp noise as soon as it disapeards? Did you use the windows update tool?

Here is what helps my drive to stay available longer, but its still a pain in the butt.  Visit this link and try two of the things listed here:

http://forums.seagate.com/t5/Momentus-XT-Momentus-and/UNIFIED-THREAD-Momentus-XT-spreadsheet/td-p/99...

Try the following:

* Force update to SD25 (Highly recommended!) [MAC/PC]

* Disable APM (Advanced Power Management) [MAC/PC]

Also be sure to post in the spreadsheet to help seagate find a solution.

Re: Strange problem after firmware update.

Yeah my XT is my  second drive. I don't remember hearing a chirp. Just one moment the drive is in use then it is gone. I should not have to do anything other than  install and format the HDD for it to work properly.  What is seagate doing about this?
