Hi all
I've dared to replace hard disk on my Mac BookPro A1226 (2008) 4Gb OSX 10.7.4 with Momentus X 750 ST750LX003-1AC154 SM12 and restored system from Time Machine. When the system loaded it was noticable that even basic apps (Finder, Utilities) became kind of sluggish (delays on opening and hitches on scrolling widows even for a loaded web page!) Contradictory enough, repeated starts of applications are boosted as if hybrid technology works, HDD speed test and big downloads from internet are ok.
As recommended on this forum I tried OSX reinstall. First impression was a relieve, but within few hours I had actually the same hitching kind of of visual perfomance.
What is a hitch? Need help!

I repaired permissons and it felt better so I was kind of celebrating, but after restart it seemed to slow down again to previous level. New verification of permissions gave new descrepancies! (though much less naumber). So I tried rapairing once again, but after restarting same 8 lines of the same kind appear.
Permissions differ on “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDA
Back to same lavel of perfomance ...

Did you open activity to see if there are any processes going on? Spotlight for one can slow your machine down, as can virusscanners. This should however disappear after a few hours. unless you do a new install...
Also try Onyx to clean up!
And what speed is your Mac using to connect to the drive? Get system info> serial ATA > connection speed. Is this 3 GB or 1.5? Or if you are lucky at 6 GB?
I have a macbook pro from 2009. But I did not dare to buy this new XT drive cause it has a connectivity of 6 GB. My research learned that if I put in a 6 GB drive in my macbook the connectivity speed could oddly drop from 3 GB to 1.5 GB. So instead I bought a 3 GB SSD and put it in the optical bay next to my older 500 GB momentus XT. Now both are on 3 GB.
If you have such a problem go to macsales.com and check if they advise this 6 GB drive for your computer. If not you can have that problem.

Cabel is ok, no damage

They say link speed is automatically negotiated...
Now it shows 1,5 Gbit, and ok, its less than 6, but original speed was 1,5 too (SATA).
And here they recomend Momentus XT 750 as applicable to my A1226 model.

OK then that's not the problem....

I think that is the problem, you need to make sure that the connectivity speeds match up, it's like putting a Ferrari motor in a Volkswagen, you won't improve the performance that much. Your laptop can only handle a up to a specific size drive, as mentioned above check your connection speed first, if it's not 6 GB then that is your problem.

Hi Sergey,
I just installed a Seagate XT ST750LX003-1AC154.
I have exactly the same permission issue and a slow boot. Did you manage to solve?
Thanks, Fabio
