Using Momentus XT drives in raid array... Why ????

When I had Hitachi drives in my Bytecc BT-M251 raid0 enclosure, I had Drive Activity lights....

When I switched to Momentus XT Drives, the speed increased, but I have no more Drive Activity Lights....

WHY???  Did Seagate move the location of the LED's on this drive?  Or not install them????

I could really use Drive activity LED's!

Anyone in the "Know" here?

The Raid controller company blames Seagate for no Drive Activity LED....

How about answering, Seagate?

Re: Using Momentus XT drives in raid array... Why ????

This is the ONE THING that Prevents me from suggesting the use of this drive to clients for use in  an extetrnal  raid array.... Even when they know about the improvement the drive will give.  Drive activity LED's are that important, for Raid Utility software.

I have requested more than once to Seagate to give me information on where to add an LED, to no avail....

I can say with certainty that there would have been 10 purchases of multiple drives, that were cancelled when I informed the client that there would be no drive activity LED's on the drive...

I can understand if it was decided that the XT1 didn't need that.....   I know you think you know best... Seagate....  But you should have at least had one as an option on the XT2's....

I will continue to inform clients about this flaw in the future....
