If you are referring to a password that was created in the BIOS, or with some security software, unfortunately there is not a way to retrieve the password. About all you can try, is to format the drive. Sometimes that works, but you may not be able to even format the drive. I will provide a link to our Seatools for DOS diagnostic program below along with our contact page for support. The Seatools program does have an option to format/erase the drive. The format is a low level format that writes zeroes to all of the sectors. If none of that works, then you may have to look into warranty replacing the drive, or returning the drive to the place of purchase if possible. You would need to run the serial number through our online warranty checker, or contact Seagate Warranty Support to confirm if the drive has any warranty.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
