I've downloaded disk wizard so I can clone a new momentus xt 750 from old drive that's stil lin the laptop. The new momentus xt 750 is placed in external usb enclosure. When opening disk wizard, it refuses to open saying it has to be on a seagate system drive.
How do I get around this problem? Seems crazy seagate would want me to continue using my old drive.
Can I make a bootable thumbdrive and somehow get the old drive to clone to the new momentus?

You could install the Momentus XT into your computer, then place your old drive into the USB Enclosure instead. Then boot from USB (if your BIOS supports booting from USB-attached HDD).
Another option is to use a bootable utility CD to do your cloning, such as UBCD, BartPE, or Parted Magic

thanks for those suggestions, I'll try those options.

WIth the 500Gb XT, I had no trouble installing an acronis backup file on the 500G XT and re-booting.... It found the needed hard drive file and requested a 2nd restart, and I've been off to the races ever since!!!
However, I heard there was an issue with Missing file with the 750Gb XT's...
There was a post here months ago about it, and name and location of the needed file.....That's one of the reasons I stayed with older XT drives.... Until OS and Backup programs support the new drive...
Happy hunting.....

Just curious... What tools are you using to resize the partitions?
