1TB Drive Buzzes and Clicks - PC can't read it. Have only had drive for a few months. Was buzzing a few days ago so I powered it down. Now when you plug it in it buzzes and clicks 6 or 7 times and goes silent. Light is on but PC can't locate the drive. I used this drive to copy all my data from an old PC to a new laptop and there is a lot of data that only sits on this drive and nowhere else. I should not need to have a backup for my backup. Everybody raved about Seagate drives a couple years back so that's what I bought. Looks like it may have been a mistake. 1TB P/N 9SF2A4-500
Can't run Seatools cause it can't find the drive. Am I just out of luck and all my data is gone forever? Or is Seagate going to charge me $500 to get my files back and send me another drive that doesn't work?
In case you can't tell, I AM REALLY upset OFF!

I understand you as I m in the same situation. I bought a Seagate external Desk HD 1,5TB 2 months ago, to put all my familie´s photos/videos from my old hard drive, exactly as I was doing with CDs and then DVDs before. Now I can´t access to my files. When the HD is powered I hear a buzz each 2-3 seconds. Then I plug the USB into the computer but the light never goes on and the drive is never recognized by the computer. I tried it in my "old" computer with XP (where I previously installed) and in my new laptop (Windows 7) and always the same: no light on, the buzz and no recognition.
In an ideal world, Seagate would recover my data for free and then give me a new external HD. From what I read it seems that people has been paid up to 2800$ for data recovery!!!!
This is a scam to say the least, I would call it a robbery instead!
(I m also angry if you didn´t notice)
