Please see this article.  It applies to "a number of Seagate hard drives from the following families:

Barracuda 7200.11
DiamondMax 22
Barracuda ES.2 SATA
FreeAgent Desk
OneTouch 4
SV35"

(For other firmware questions besides these, please see this Knowledge Base article.)

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Firmware Issues

Greetings

I can not seem to get the on line serial number validation tool to function.

Pop ups are allowed (IE7). All that happens is a window appears that says to 'allow pop ups'

The drive in question is a One Touch 4 s/n 2HA43JD8 with firmware rev 0125 reported by the

Seagate drive detect program.

Thanks for your help.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Firmware Issues

I am a forum moderator, but I am not a technical expert.  As such, I pass on information that is passed on to me, and in this case erroneous information was passed on to me, which I then posted.  Then Saturday and Sunday, then Monday was a US holiday.  Upon my return to work today, I was informed that Seagate's firmware issue has been amended, and does not actually include the OneTouch 4 (nor the FreeAgent Desk).  So I'll be locking and un-floating this thread.  I am sorry for the inconvenience and the confusion.
