Model Series: ST30000CB
Model ID: ST3250623A (As Identified by my operating system in Explorer > Properties)
Capacity: 750GB
Purchased from Fry's Electronics
Part#: 9BJ648-560
Serial#: 3QD05SK6
Operating system: Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Issue: There was a backup software CD included when I bought this drive and I installed the backup software. The backup software was completely buggy and I could not get it to work - it was garbled on the screen and could not get it to work at all. While the software was installed, an icon would be present in the systray upon bootup. Since the backup software was unusuable, I decided to uninstall it and of course when I boot up now, the icon in the systray no longer appears.
When I am using my system it will now freeze and the drive light will go off for a few seconds (sleep) then re-light and my system will unfreeze and the operation will continue. When the buggy backup software was installed, there were no issues.
This particular drive is not listed anywhere in your knowledge base or product listings, which makes me believe it was a special model possibly made for Frys to sell exclusively ... just a guess.
I want an unbugged version of the software that came with this drive so I can re-install solve the drive/sleep/system freeze issue or some other solution to stop the drive freeze/sleep issue. I do not need backup software, I can get that anywhere, I just want to stop the drive from freezing for whatever reason is causing it.

Believe it or not, it is a 750GB drive. It must have been a special production item like I said that was marketed and sold by Frys Electronics. Maybe they modified the drive for sale. I do not know.
