Cause of Blinking One Touch LED FOUND!!!!

I got an email from a Seagate tech who read this forum (very good news) and sent me a clue that some process must be trying to transfer to the drive. After some trial and error, I have determined that Zone Alarm firewall is the culprit. Now I have to figure out if there is a way to have both co-exist without this problem. Any ideas??

Ther's a software called unlocker.it might be able to help u to stop the zone alarm from accessing the drive.

Well done Stevie!
I just bought one of these and haven't been able to unplug the thing because it never stops flashing.

Did you have any luck with the unlocker? It sounds like that will kill zonealarm?? Not an ideal solution!

Re: Cause of Blinking One Touch LED FOUND!!!! - solution found!

update: I found how to tell zonealarm to leave the maxtor alone...

in anti-virus/ anti-spyware advanced options (when the maxtor is connected), select scan targets, drop down local hard drives, and deselect the maxtor.

It stops flashing, and the safely remove option works.

Re: Cause of Blinking One Touch LED FOUND!!!!

Doh I just tried same thing on my wife's laptop and it didn't work.

Yes, we do have on-access scanning on.

I installed Unlocker, and it said Explorer and RunDll tasks had locks on it. Killing them does the trick but I'm not sure of the consequences.
