Dashboard software

I have purchased a Seagate 1TB expansion external drive. It comes with dashboard software. I have not installed it yet. I Have been trying to find out how this software works. All I want is a program that I can use to backup my files when I want it to. I don't want something that works all the time in that back round. How does dashboard software setup?

Thank you

Re: Dashboard software

When the Dashboard utility is installed, it also installs the Memeo backup software.

This software will run in the background at all times.

If you don't like software that performs this, you can use Windows backup [ http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore ] or our Seagate backup utility:

Re: Dashboard software

[ Edited ]

If you choose not to install the dashboard then you will probably find your drive going to sleep and having to power it off and on to wake it up.

This link shows how to set drive sleep settings in the dashboard or manually

@ AskTheLeaf - maybe the link you posted is to an area not available to the general public? It comes up with the message below but the rest of the Seagate site is still up.
