THis will be the second time I have used my drive. I firdst used it a few months ago and palced a lot of archive data on it. Since I have moved back to my home office. I pluged it back in for both power (1st) then to the USB (2nd) just as the direections say and then nothing. After turning power on to it it just sits there and blinks both lights in front. Is this a sign of something that might be wrong with my drive or it is that the computer cannot find it? Oh! by the way i did not mention that the computer cannot find it. It shows up no where under any of my management tools. Can some one help or is this a Maxtor (Seagate) direct call issue?
I have the same situation. Bought it at Costco in May, backed up my system. Checked out the Maxtor One Touch 3 400GB, as it the light was flashing. Cant be located on my computer. Tried removing and reinstalling the software. No luck. Switch from firewire to USB. No luck. I still cant locate the Maxtor on my computer. Any solutions?
I am having the same exact problem. I downloaded and reinstalled the software and keep hitting a wall. System does not recognize the drive. I too am patiently waiting to get some kind of help. Anyone out there??
i am havin the same issue. i have had the drive for a while and its always been reliable. but now i turn it on and nothing happens except the light blinks. would be great to have a rep reply back to this soon. need help.

does anyone know how to open the case to get the harddrive out. if i could figure that out there would be no prob cuz then you could just switch cases. I have a feeling the usb port is messed up on the case. atleast for me.
I was having trouble with Windows Vista, I tried the download from the site, still had trouble. I realized if the User Account control setting is on I couldn't access my Maxtor III external hard drive. The computer wouldn't recognize it, and it would see it in the device manager. If I turn off the user account control and reboot. It recognizes it and then the Maxtor software also recognizes it.
