Hey,
I just bought a new Seagate Expansion 2TB last week and it started working bad a few days ago (it disconnected automatically and reconnected after). Yesterday it stopped working. I plug it in and Windows 7 and a message saying that the driver wasn't installed correctly pops up, and it doesn't show up in the drives list. In the Device Manager it shows up as unknown. It keeps blinking with the green led and doesn't make noise.
The drive doesn't make the ventilator noise it used to make. Also, it doesn't turn on when you only plug in the battery cable, it will only turn on when I plug the USB to the computer.
I have very valuable information I need urgently for work.
Thanks in advance.
PD: excuse my bad English.
EDIT: More info:
- Updated drivers and now shows up as Initio Combo Class Device.
- Model: ST320005EXD101-RK

Thank-you for your reply but unfortunately this hasn't solved the problem.
Some additional info: the problem isn't caused by the power supply or the USB. Also, it hasn't received any external damages (it hasn't fallen or anything).
Thanks.

Since using the external drive troubleshooter didn't resolve the issue, it'd be good to discuss this live with a technician. Please contact our support center for your region either by phone or chat to get this resolved:

I can't believe how can Seagate sell such bad products, I've been surfing and thousands of people have problems with these rubbish harddrives. I am very disappointed in this rubbish company, never going to buy any drives again and going to tell friends about this lousy Seagate drives.
