I have a Maxtor 3200 External Hard Drive which has been working fine until 2 days ago when the computer says that it can't recognize the hard drive now it says nothing.  I have thousands  of albums on it, any help please.

Re: External Hard Drive Not Recognized

Please try our external drive troubleshooter - http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/troubleshooting_assistance/

If the troubleshooter doesn't resolve your problem, could you please post the report from Microsoft's UVCView utility?
http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/USB_IDs/UVCView.x86.exe (This utility is from one of our forum's most prolific and helpful users - fzabkar.)

Thanks!

Re: External Hard Drive Not Recognized

 I have the same problem.

I have eliminated software as the cause, and I think it is the power cord that is the cause.

Although I can't say for certain that this is the culprit, it should be considered.

Now, to find a power cord for it.

 good luck.

Re: External Hard Drive Not Recognized

You can track down a replacement power cord at local computer or electronic supply stores. Just be sure you get one with the same specifications as the current one:
