External drive won't open in Windows XP

Subject isn't strictly true, but I wasn't sure how to describe the problem succinctly!

I have a Seagate External Desktop drive, running with a Windows XP machine. I can view the hard drive in "My Computer", I can also access the hard drive by right clicking and choosing "Explore" or "Open". However, if I just double click with left button it asks me for user control (with me giving my Admin password), and nothing happens!

Any ideas? New drive so it's possible I may be doing something wrong.
