Re: FORMATING 3TB EXPANSION DRIVE TO FAT32 MAC

After doing as I suggested, I just tried to plug directly into my Xbox360 and it can not see the drive.  I'm willing to bet that Windows PC's will also not be able to see it.  Bummer!  I guess its time for Fat32 to die and come up with a new cross platform format.  Guess I'll just use it for Mac only and stick with Rivet to feed to my Xbox360.

Re: FORMATING 3TB EXPANSION DRIVE TO FAT32 MAC

I had the same problem, took me a few hours of messing around, but I think I found a solution that will allow you to use it on a mac and xbox.

I have the 3TB expansion with 2.0USB.  I reformatted to Mac Os Extended(Journaled).  Then I made two partitions.  One of the partitions is of Mac OS Extended(Journaled) 2.8TB.  The other is MS DOS(FAT) .2TB.  I put all my videos on the 2.8TB partition and it works on my Xbox.  Not sure why this works, and I dont really care as long as it works.  I hope all the reformatting didnt take some life out of my External HDD

Hope that helps you out, I know I was getting pretty upset about this

You might want to tell Amazon that... If you search for "mac 3tb external hard drive" your 3tb Expansion drive is one of the first items on their list.
