huge problem, accidently dropped my sisters uni hard drive... Its a external segate 1tb. I go to plug it into my computer and when i plug it it in the it makes the noise of when u plug the USB in but doesn't come up? like in the computer etc.
Is there a way i can solve this? or is it broken....
plz tell me there is way to get the files off the hard drive, onto another.. if i take it into a store or do it myself... thanks!

Sorry to hear that you dropped the drive. With the drive making the noises you described, it sounds as though it's suffered a mechanical defect. To get to the data you'll most likely need to contact a data recovery service. You can check locally for these, online or contact our data recovery service:

yes. but how do i recover it if it doesn't pop up.. if u know what i mean it doesn't pop up in my computer so i can open it..

That's where data recovery comes in. Prior to contacting them, check Device Manager to see if it's listed there:
1. Right-click "My Computer"
2. Click "Manage"
3. Open "System Tools"
4. Open "Device Manager"
Here your drive should be listed under "Disk Drives", or "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as a "USB Mass Storage Device". If it does appear there, check Disk Management as well. Let me know what you find out.
