Hi,

I'm going to get a USB3 disk to replace my 2TB Blackarmor WS110 disk. (for faster backups) Can I use the WS110 disk as a normal SATA internal disk? There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to open up the plastic casing, so I'd probably have to break it to get the disk out. 

If the disk isn't usable as a "normal" internal disk - I'll just leave things as they are and use the WS110 as a stanby device.

1. Use a suction cup or temporary adhesive and apply to center of enclosure side. (Not so easy, may take some time/tries)

2. The clips attached to the case lid (top) will release from side wall. Insert a flathead screw driver inbetween the side wall and lid to hold clips open.

3. Once entire side is unclipped, insert a finger to hold open clips and use your other hand to SLOWLY pry open the rest of the clips around the case's walls.

4. Once lid is completly off, you can remove the inteior case. You may want to unclip the LED chip that is attached to the bottom of the case so that you may remove the entire interior casing.

5. Remove the 3 screws securing the interior case.

6. Remove the 4 screws that secure the harddrive to the interior case. These are under the square rubber absorbers.

7. Once unsecured, lift the rear side of the harddrive slowly up and pull away from power board to disconnet.

8. Now you can install this into a SATA capable computer. Enjoy!

I actually did open it up (of course it would never go back together again after that) and indeed there was a "normal" SATA disk inside. I was a little disappointed to find it was a "low energy" 5400 RPM drive - but I installed it nevertheless. Then CrystalDiskInfo reported some sector errors - so I just got rid of it. :-\
