How to update firmware?

I have an external usb connected harddrive.

Model Number:   ST310005EXD101-RK

Inside that is a Model Number:   ST31000528AS,

Family:   BARRACUDA 7200.12 FAMILY

According to Seagate the firmware should be updated to CC49

I have run the firmware with no success it can't find the drive.

Which is not strange since it's a dos utility running long before the drive gets detected ,,,

So how do I do?

Re: How to update firmware?

The firmware updates are only available for Barracuda drives not pre-installed by Seagate inside external enclosures.

Are you experiencing any issues with your drive, or did you just want to update the firmware?

Re: How to update firmware?

When I look in the windows logs I get a quite frequent error.
Errorlog 51

"an error was detected on device/harddrive1 during a change action"

Done the tests that exists in Seatools.
