Hi,
I am a mom of three little kids and have very minimal computer knowledge so please bear with me. I appreciate any help. ![]()
I have been backing up my photos on a OneTouch 4 mini. I was under the impression that every time I hooked up the Maxtor it was saving only new images. (family photos, etc.)
Our desktop (HP) is very old now (almost 6 years old) and my husband ended up completely resetting it to original factory settings, deleting everything on it including about 2,000 family photos. ![]()
I just hooked the Maxtor up to the desktop to upload the pictures from it but it says there is over 15,000! images on it.
We also have a one year old HP notebook. I haven't attempted hooking the Maxtor up to the notebook yet.
I could use some advice on the best / easiest way to get my photos back. I would LOVE to just hook it up to a photo printer and print them all but that doesn't seem practical given the volume of images.

Probably/hopefully those are redundant images, kept in historical backup folders.
So you'll probably/hopefully have the same images in several different folders in the drive.
Where can I find my backup files?[212797]

The Maxtor is just an external drive. It becomes a drive letter on the My Computer section.
Open My Computer and look for a drive letter and Icon (picture) that looks like an external drive.
Double click it to open it.
You should see "folders" one should be named what you named your computer. That's were the backup program makes by default the backup files.
Thats' where the back up files are located. There should be a "history" folder, these can be duplicated of files that were changed. They should not be photos as you don't change them like a document.
I'm assuming you did backups or had it automaticlly do backups.
If you 'reset" your computer... it usually erases everything on the drive.
