Manager software not recognizing drive

Maxtor OneTouch4 Plus drive, using Fire wire connection
Using on Mac w/ Os 10.5.4
Manager V5.2.3

The finder sees the drive & I installed the software from the drive successfully.
Nothing happens when I push the button on the drive, nor does the Manager recognize the drive under the "my drives" heading. Tried 2 restarts also.

Am I missing something ??

Re: Manager software not recognizing drive

I am having exactly the same problem. I tried to manually erase the disk too but still no joy. I really can't be bothered with this - I was expecting a seamless experience

Re: Manager software not recognizing drive

I'm having the exact same problem, and I'm surprised and disappointed to find that nobody has posted a response resolving the issue.  I was able to get around it, but I don't think it's too much to ask to have the software that comes with the hard drive work properly.  I'll try other threads I suppose.

Re: Manager software not recognizing drive

I'm having the problem, too. I'm using an intel Mac laptop. The Maxtor OneTouch Manager sees the drive -- it's listed -- but when I click 'settings', I cannot change anything, and it says no drive is selected. Is anyone listening? Do we need to start hassling tech support to get an answer? Hellooooo?

Same problem here... I guess we are on our own.

Re: Manager software not recognizing drive

I agree with all of the above - drive not recognised. Have abandoned the Maxtor software and am using Seagate DiscWizard to image my drives to the One-Touch but this has been a disappointing episode and Maxtor/Seagate have lost any future business from me.
