Maxtor Manager Doesn't Recognize Disk

I have a Maxtor OneTouch4 that worked perfectly until yesterday.  The computer recognizes the drive, I can read and write files to/from it.  It passes all the Sea tests.  But, when I start Maxtor Manager it says there are no external drives found.  Obviously it is connected and turned on since WinXP can see it.  The light on the front of the OneTouch is on steady.  If I push the lighted button nothing happens.  I want to use the back-up features of this drive but now I can't.  Any ideas?

Re: Maxtor Manager Doesn't Recognize Disk

Uninstall/reinstall the software.

That should fix it.

If not, switch to Seagate Manager, it's based off maxtor manager and has pretty much the same features and you can still do a backup.

To all users: If your data is stored ONLY on an external hard drive, then it is NOT a backup. A BACKUP is having the data stored in TWO or MORE locations. If it is only in ONE location, you don't have a backup at all. If the data is important to you, then have it stored in multiple locations to prevent data loss.
