Maxtor One Touch 4 NOT DETECTED

Hi to all, sorry for my English.   I have 2 computers. One notebook and one desktop. The notebook has Windows 7 32 bit, the Descktop has Windows 7 64 bit.

When I connect the One Touch to the notebook Win 7 32Bit all is OK.

When I connect The One touch to the Desktop with S.O. Windows 7 64 bit i see the message 'driven installing' and than 'Device is ready' but i cannot see in 'Start/Computer' its icon and i don't see the folders and the files of it.

May by that the driver for Windows 7 64bit are not ? What Seagate do????

Thank . Italico

From the Windows 7 computer, please use our external drive troubleshooter.

Re: Maxtor One Touch 4 NOT DETECTED

All the connectivity problems noted here are due to the way the USB connector on the MAXTOR interface board was designed. It is frail. It relies on 2 extremely small weak spots of solder to keep it in place. Did MAXTOR EVER READ THESE REPORTS and acknowledge then fix the problem. We have all been hosed by the same guys that think that ground up dinner plates are a good substitute for infant formula.

Well, just to keep everything in perspective...

1) Seagate bought Maxtor 3 years before this forum was even started, and 6 years before your post.

2) OneTouch 4 drives are quite old by now.  Seagate hasn't been manufacturing them for quite some time.

3) At any rate, we didn't see a significantly higher rate of return on these drives than other drives, so my guess is that something unfortunate and a little unforeseen happened to your drive.  I am sorry to hear it, but just to be fair, it does not indicate a widespread, systematic problem.
