Re: Maxtor One touch 1...How long does a back up take?

60 gigs for the first time.. about 45min.  After that will be very short as it only copies newer files.

Do you have USB 2.0   Even the older USB 1.1 may stretch out 60 Gb to an hour or two the first time.

Something's up.  Can you copy and past files to the external ?  It should happen pretty quickly.

Have you ever tried a memory stick?  Is it fast ?

Re: Maxtor One touch 1...How long does a back up take?

2.0 USB and copying and pasting, manual transfers are instant. This is not the first back up. I deleted the other back-ups trying to circumvent the 8211 error issue. Did'nt work for me. Nothing but 8211 errors. Now I understand that this software only copies files and folders not a system back-up. I'm not using it anymore. I'll go with a differant software that gives me an entire back-up. The Onetouch is fine as an external storage device. The software is free, but it's a useless piece of junk.

I uninstalled re-installed it did everything to stop these 8211 errors but I give up. I can't even find or get rid of that anoying log text. Even after I deleted the one in the primary HD Maxtor folder and the one in the external Maxtor and still theat log is that humongous error text. I give up.
