Maxtor OneTouch 4 750gb connects fine to PC, but not to any other device!

This hard drive runs great, fast, and was a great price, but it is only recognized by a PC or laptop. I own a media player, dvd player with usb input, and xbox 360. The drive will spin up, the light blinks, and then nothing...it never shows up. I tried reformatting, but nothing changed. I have never had a problem with any of my Western Digital products, or flash drives, only this Maxtor. Any ideas?

I believe that the Maxtor OneTouch 4 comes preformatted with an NTFS file system. Most devices expect FAT32 or FAT16.

Thanks, any idea how to do that? When I bring up the "Format..." window, I can only select NTFS. Is there software I need to use?

I'm still using Win98SE, but AFAICT you need to first use Disc Management to delete the NTFS partition.

A Google search turns up this FAT32 formatting utility:

Here is the GUI version:
