Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini Power Requirements

Hello,

I want to buy the OneTouch Mini 4 250g to use for car audio purposes. My Pioneer head unit has a USB connection capable of connecting a USB hard drive. My main concern is that the Head unit can only give out a maximum of 500milliamperes (.5 A) to power the connected USB device.

Does anyone know how much power the OneTouch 4 Mini 250g requires to operate? I am hoping that it will work when I connect it to my car's head unit. Thanks!

Re: Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini Power Requirements

wow yeah that would be sweeeeeet, but the problem is that it may well not provide enough power.

in fact i have a drive similar to this one - my Dell lappy would power it with just the one connection for a while, but as the drive got older it requires now both of the USB connections plugged in, so who knows?  might have to go to a smaller form factor, either flash or a 1.8 inch drive if you can fnid one like that
