I have a Maxtor OneTouch 4 500 GB Model 9NT2A4-500 which came with pre-loaded software, no disk. I have used it to backup files manually using drag and drop vs. the "one touch" method. I have had it for several years connected to an XP desktop, then XP netbook, and sometimes used it to backup another XP laptop (by simply unplugging it from one system and plugging into another). I haven't ever had problems until now. My netbook was beginning to fail, so I backed up to the OneTouch just in case something happened. I then tried to connect the OneTouch up to my new laptop (Windows 7) to copy those files over. The drive didn't seem like it was even powering up, and was not recognized by Windows. After trying it on several different systems, remembering in hindsight that they were all Windows 7 or Vista, the OneTouch was recognized by none. I let it go for a couple of weeks and tried again today to see if I can access the files.
Now, the OneTouch white light on the front is consistently blinking about once every two seconds, but is still not being "seen" by ANY of my systems, XP or Windows 7. I have scoured the forums looking for anything to try. Can't find software to download for this model number and tried to switch out the USB cord. I was able to hook up another external hard drive and recover my latest netbook files in between system crashes, but I still have most of my digital pictures and old personal files that were not stored on my netbook that I need to recover from the OneTouch.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
