Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition and Vista Problems

Hi All,

I have Windows Vista Ultimate and a Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition.  I have had a serious crashing problem. Vista has finally identified the problem as a Maxtor driver issue but says that Seagate has no solution.

I am using the new Vista Maxtor software that is called OT3_Mini_Vista that I downloaded from the website when I upgraded to Vista.

When I back up now to my Maxtor my system immediately crashes.

Seagate are you going to supply a driver? Or will I need to get a new Vista Compatible backup product.  I just want the reality here, no judgment or grief, just want to promptly move forward and get back up and running.

The crashing issue seems to be specifically when Maxtor tries to view the Vista file tree to either review the files being selected for backup or to access the files.

Thanks!

Re: Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition and Vista Problems

Nancy,

it sounds like you might want to actually call seagate on this issue, remember these forums are peer to peer so seagate doesn't really provide support through them, they just monitor them so users like myself can help others out. as for your issue you, you mention it says no driver found for the maxtor?  vista has an issue with its driver cache corrupting, you should google infcache.1 corrupted.  it might be worth looking into.  there is a microsoft fix available to fix this issue, you can find it here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937187/en-us

I hope you are able to resolve your issues with vista.
