I have a Maxtor One Touch III Turbo Edition 1.5TB external hard drive. I have been using it with my PC for the past year or so. It came formatted for the Mac but I reformatted it for the PC. Now I am switching to a Mac Pro desktop computer and I'd like to keep using the Maxtor as a backup drive. The Apple Store is trying to move all my data files onto the Mac and once they are successful, I'd like to convert the Mac back to OS Leopard format. Can you advise me how to do this? I know I will lose the data on the drive when I reformat it to the Mac OS. Thank you.

Okay, that was very helpful. I'm a little concerned because this external drive has RAID and I originally formatted it for RAID 1 for redundancy since it's actually two 750GB drives. Now however, I'd like it to be RAID 0 with a full 1.5TB. When I follow the instructions you sent me will I be given a choice or will it automatically default to the RAID 0 configuration? Thanks,
Bernie

i think it defaults to raid 0, but you have to install and use the maxtor Manager to switch it.
And it will mean that you have to reformat.
Honestly I'd suggest using RAID 0 and backing up on another drive, but whatever you want to do is OK
