Maxtor OneTouch IV Plus

[ Edited ]

My computer crashed and I reformatted the computer's hard drive.  Maxtor did it's job and saved the files (so did Windows, which created a windows.old database and from there I was able to reload my files.  I did not restore from the Maxtor drive, although I do have access to my files that are on the drive--albeit manually and through Windows Explorer).  The problem now is I reinstalled all files and want to hook up the Maxtor drive again.  However, the bundled software is on the drive, I don't have a backup copy and it's not letting me connect the OneTouch back to the computer.   Basically, I cannot get the Maxtor Manager.  Any suggestions on what I can do?  Also, I should note that on May 18, 2012, I had to reformat the Maxtor drive.  It gave me the message that the drive was full (500 GB), even though my computer is only 250 GB.  However, after reformatting, I was able to access the Maxtor Manager and backup as before without problem.

You can contact support via email (include your mailing address as well due to restrictions in certain countries regarding encryption) and request the software.

They will send you a download and code for the software and you can have Maxtor Manager again.

Are you on 32 Windows XP or Vista? Or did you upgrade to Win 7?

To all users: If your data is stored ONLY on an external hard drive, then it is NOT a backup. A BACKUP is having the data stored in TWO or MORE locations. If it is only in ONE location, you don't have a backup at all. If the data is important to you, then have it stored in multiple locations to prevent data loss.
