Similar problem here. It is either "Device not Recognized" or the computer does not see it at all or it sees it and suddenly stoprs seeing it. I tried with differenc cables, different USB slots and different computers with Windows XP and Windows 7 and is the same problem everywhere. The drivers are up to date.
This is quite annoying

I started having the same problem recently with my 750GB OneTouch 4 drive running on a Vista OS computer. I used the Troubleshooter link the moderator posted at the top of the Forum. It suggests a dual Y USB adapter cable. Presumably this increases the amperage that the drive can draw from the USB ports. Has anyone tried one of these? Hey, Seagate, why don't you ship the drive with this cable if it is required??
Not sure that power is the issue, however. I can get the drive back and work with it with no problems for a short time if I restart the drive and reboot the computer. If I leave it alone for a while, it drops from the drive listing and I get an error message that a USB device is no longer recognized. I wonder if the problem is in software, related to when the drive goes from active status to "sleep" mode?
I see several posts related to this issue with suggestions, but no one has posted that any of the solutions worked. Did anyone try installing their drive directly into their computer? I am considering that approach.

That is only for OneTouch 4 mini drives. But there are no 750 GB OT4 mini drives.

Right, it is not, since your drive plugs into the wall.

Sounds like that to me, yes.
