My computer advises that my files are corrupt and unreadable

I have just purchased a new Seagate 500 GB External hard drive, P/N 9SD2A4-500.  To ensure that the main drive files were not deleted in error, I created a new folder and placed the drives files into this folder.  Now my computer is saying that the files are corrupted and unreadable.   How can I access the drive and undo what I have done so that I can re-access the files I have saved on the drive.

Hello,

If your files are corrupted, you may not be able to recover them without some kind of professional data recovery. If you still have the files on your computer, we would recommend that you run a Windows CHKDSK . That will attempt to scan and repair your drive. If you do not have the files anywhere else, and are unable to access them, you can contact Seagate Data Recovery Services for recovery options. You can also contact Seagate Support directly. Here is a contact link for our Support Department and below that link is for our Data Recovery Department.
