No external drives were found

Hi

I've been having some trouble trying to reconnect my Maxtor OneTouch. I originally had it working but recently moved and plugged it into another USB Port. I read somewhere that this might be an issue so I'm wondering if there is a way to "reassign" the drive to my OneTouch.

I did try all the other solutions like going into "services" and making sure it's enabled but that doesn't do the trick.

Re: No external drives were found

When you move it to a different USB port, what happens?

Re: No external drives were found

I have the same problem.  My computer no longer recognizes my OneTouch4.  I have tried other USB ports, does not recognize it on any of them.  Random as it happened apparently for no reason.

Re: No external drives were found

I am having the same problem.  I can get the drive to work for a short period of time but it wont stay connected and I get a "no external hard drives found" message.  What I have says this on the bottom:  PN:9NT2A6-500.  I have had NO trouble with it up until the last couple of weeks.  It is giving me problems in iTunes too as all of my music is stored there as opposed to on my hard drive.

Thanks,

Jeff

Running Chkdsk on the external drive may restore it to File Manager

My OneTouch4 drive letter has been disappearing from my File Manager (Windows Explorer) a number of times and fortuitously I discovered that if I run CHKDSK on the Onetouch4 drive the OneTouch4 drive will reappear in the File Manager.
