I would like to know can  I use a different backup/imaging software with my One Touch II external drive? My computer is a Dell XPS 400 with the Windows XP Professional installed.

Oh, please do.  You can use freebyte (free and will copy any directory - unlike the supplied software) 

Plus there is some software I just found.

EASUS backup software in 32 or 64 bit.  FREE too !  It will copy a drive to an image to your external drive or do backps

or to-do backup  I cloned my Vista drive with this.  Again FREE

Comodo backup will do drives and directories and can schedule them

 

Or  Copy and Paste !
