One Touch 4 mini USB cable replacement?

On a recent trip, I lost the 2 headed USB cable (power + data) for my One touch 4 Mini 80GB hard drive. Can I purchase any USB cable with a Y-split configuration (2 standard USB male plugs on one end and 1 mini USB male plug on the other end) or do I have to get a replacement cable from Maxtor?

Hi,

You might check the maxstore. Unfortunately I am unsure if the other cable would be up to specification.

Re: One Touch 4 mini USB cable replacement?

When I plug my OneTouch 4 mini into my MacBook it only requires 1 of the 2 USB connectors on the Y cable to work. However, when I tried using a standard USB cable with this drive it makes a strange clicking noise and doesn't mount. Are there any standard (meaning not a Y-cable) USB cables that will work with the OneTouch 4 mini?

Re: One Touch 4 mini USB cable replacement?

It seems that a regular USB cable won't supply enough power to the drive so that's why it won't power up completely. The second head on the Y shaped USB cable provides additional power to the drive. On my MacBook, I can get the drive to work by using a regular USB cable. However, my Windows computer doesn't provide enough juice over the USB port to power the drive using one USB cable so that's why I was looking for a replacement Y cable.
