I bought my external HD in USA (Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini, but unfortunately there are situations where it does not work. For example I have a microcomputer HP with Windows Vista Home Edition and Maxtor external HD simply make a kind of noise at the moment that I connect in the computer and the device cannnot run. I am very upset and I would like a answer as soon as possible.

If someone already present this kind of issue and have a solution, please let me know.

When I said the HD does not run, mean that the device stay beeping and cannot does not appear as a external drive, meaning I cannot acess the external HD.

Any doubt, pls let me know

sounds to me like the drive does not get enough power from the usb port. do you use only one?
