OneTouch III 750GB capacity issue (Mac OS X 10.4)

I just bought a Maxtor OneTouch III 750GB disc and it shows up with a total capacity of 149.1 GB instead of 750GB. I'm using the drive with a 15" PowerBook (1.67 GHz G4) and reformatted the drive to MacOS Extended (Journaled) per the drives user guide. Also, I'm running Tiger (10.4.10), not 10.5 yet. Also, the drive showed up as the same size prior to formating (as an NTFS partition). I am a relative new-comer to the Mac so this could be a newbie issue. If it is, a kick in the correct direction would be greatly appreciated. The other FAQs for Mac's size issues did not seem to apply to me. Thanks for your help! Robert

Re: OneTouch III 750GB capacity issue (Mac OS X 10.4)

Hello,
The drive showing as 149.1 GB suggest the external drive has a 160GB hard drive in it.  The best option would be to return the drive immediately to the place of purchase for another one.
Regards,
