OneTouch III Turbo SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOW File Transfer

I have a OneTouch III Turbo 1.5 TB drive set at RAID 0 and when I'm copying large files over from my internal RAID 0 array it takes ages to complete. It starts the transfer really fast at first. Then the drive stops transferring at about 25% of the progress bar for a few minutes and then it decides to continue the transfer at a speed as low as 5mb/s and it also causes some programs like firefox to hang! I'm so frustrated with this.

 

I have connected the drive to my PC using firewire 400.

 

I'm using Windows 7 x64

 

I have a 1100W PSU

Is it possible to TRY a USB connection ?

 

What software you using for 64bit ?
