Re: Partition on maxtor OneTouch is not recognized or the Maxtor OneTouch has no parittion

Looks like I'm about eighteen months late with this, but here goes.  I had the same problem intermittently on a One-Touch 4 (1 TB) until a few days ago when it set in permanently.  Solved it by using the Firewire (1394) connection instead of USB, and it now seems to work fine, so try that if you've got the option.  I'll let you know if it collapses again

Re: Partition on maxtor OneTouch is not recognized or the Maxtor OneTouch has no parittion

I have a Maxtor OneTouch4 (WIN XP) - it will not show up in MyComputer or Disk Management.  It used to only show up in Device Manager as a USB Storage Device, but after finally running Maxtor Manager (which I somehow missed the past 3 days) it showed up, but not the frist time... weird.

When I finally ran a diagnostic test from Maxtor Manager, it says the device is bad, but it still never gets redognized in MyComputer or Disk Management.

When I try to run Seagate Tools, it crashes saying "Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: Lengthsystem.stringinternalsubstring with checks (Int 32, Int 32, Boolean)

So I uninstalled Microsoft .NETFramework 2.0 and the two service packs, reinstalled Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to see if Seagate Tools will work properly. Now I ma going to see if Seagate Tools will recognize the drive...

Uggg!!!

Iif the drive IS corrupted, and only USB, may I directly transfer any files to my internal drive?
