Power Problem...I Think

I am currently using a ST3160812U2-RK - 3.5-Inch External USB 2.0 160-GB Hard Drive, and have been for a good bit.  This morning when I tried to turn it on, the light on the power supply's tranformer started blinking, but the hard drive never turned on.  I tried unplugging everything and plugging it all back in a few times, but to no avail.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what has happened and how I can access my data?  The drive contains my digital photos and music, about sizty gigs worth of stuff.  The photos were backed up not to long ago and the music is still on CDs...but we are talking about a lot of work to put things back in order.  If the drive's power supply is damaged somehow, is it possible to take the drive to someone and have the data retrieved?  Thank-you in advance for any assistance.

Hi bjjdad,

Did you find out what kind of problem that is?  I am having the similar issue (light on my ext HD keeps blinking, but the disk is not spinning) and am searching for answers ... Help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Power Problem...I Think

hello,
sry to hear about that.

tell me - does this box use an external adapter?
That could be the issue (power, as you alluded to).

How daring do you feel?

Inside that box - is a normal HDD. If you take it out, and connect it to your computer - you'll have a typical HDD, and you can get back all your data.

Are you up for it?
Whats the warranty from seagate like for this device?
A Pentium III, 256MB RAM and 10GB HDD are needed to run Windows XP.
The power of 3 C64 was needed to fly to SPACE.
Something is wrong with our world...
And its called WINDOWS!
