Power supply for Expansion Drive

Just got a 2 TB Seagate Expansion External Drive.  ST320005EXA101-rk.

I oPENDED THe BOX, USED , AND AM NOW STARING AT SEVERAL POWER SUPPLIES ON MY DEsK.

I am sure that the appropriate power supply is 12.0 volts.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF the correct 12.0 volt power supply is a 1500 mA?

The one which I think shipped with the box is labelled "switching power supply", model # s018BU1200150.

Seagate Tech support told me that they did not know what power supply shipped with the 2 TB Seagate Expansion External Drive.  ST320005EXA101-rk.

Thanks

Re: Power supply for 2 TB Seagate Expansion External Drive. ST320005EXA101-rk.

I have an extention drive 1.5 TB and the label on the AC adaptor says "12V, 2A" with "+" in the tip - the contact which is inside the plug, the outer metal surface is connected to "-", see the attached photo.

Anyway this adaptor broke the first time I pluged it to the wall socket. (And this is when I finally received working hard drive after 2 succesive repairements!!!) So I can use a universal AC adapter with 12V 1.4A, but I do not leave it switched on for long periods: it is heated too much.

I hope that this information is helpful. The customer care and warranty policy is far from being good in Seagate. Will never buy anything more from them!

Re: Power supply for Expansion Drive

I have a Seagate Expansion External Drive 2 TB with USB 3.0 and 2.0, model number STAY2000102, part number 9SEAN2-500.

Its power supply is 12V 1.5A tip positive.

Very inconvenient that the product information on the drive doesn't include either this power-supply information or the model number (only the part number). A search of Seagate support doesn't find anything for the part number. The power supply doesn't even say "Seagate". There's no user manual. I guess that's all got to be figured out now by the customer.
