Reinstall on New Computer

Hello,
I have a Maxtor One Touch III. I originally installed it on Windows, and now I have a Mac. I don't need to keep the data, I just want to use my drive on my new computer. I want to reinstall it, but it wont let me. It allows me to read my old files, but not delete them, add to the disk, or wipe the drive completely.
Does anyone know if there's anyway to do this? I have the manager loaded on my computer, but again, it won't let me restore the drive and reinstall.

just use the disk utility to erase it and start over again.  use mac extended (journaled) for the partition type

-if you didn't back up your junk, you didn't need it after your drive crashed
