Hello - I am hoping someone can pls help me with getting my Maxtor OneTouch II so it works again. I have a Dell Dimension 9100 with Windows XP SP 2. My OneTouch II used to work fine, but now I get this error whenever I tyr to do a Backup or Duplicate:
Scanning incomplete error - 1001 (unknown Windows OS error) Execution incomplete
I can view the contents of the drive using Windows Explorer & can even read previously duplicated files directly from the drive. I have tried reinstalling the Maxtor OneTouch & Retrospect software & I made sure I had the latest version of Retrospect from the Maxtor site (ver 1.1.127). I have also tried various combinations of rebooting & disconnecting/connecting the drive. I have tried using both USB & 1394/Firewire connections (my Maxtor OneTouch II supports both connections).
I would try reinstalling again, but in a different order b/c that can really make a difference.
1) In the Add/Remove programs, uninstall the programs under the names Retrospect, EMC, Dantz, and Maxtor. Don't reboot yet. 2) Go to this folder: C:/Documents And Settings/All Users/Application Data/ and delete the RetroExp folder there. 3) Then reboot your computer 4) Then reinstall the software from CD. 5) Then check in your Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs list and see if Microsoft .Net framework 2.0 is installed. If it is not, download and install it.
6) Then install the update to Retrospect if you want. That will probably work.
I tried the recommended solution but unfortunately it did not work. I still get the same error when attempting to Duplicate or Backup. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks again for all your help.
